HOLY CROSS PARISH MISSION 2007
Over a period of two weeks, the Sion Community led a Mission for the parishes of Holy Cross and Sts. Philip and James on the theme of “Journey”. It included home visiting, workshops and services. Parishioners found it to be an enlightening and renewing experience.
Proclaiming the Gospel Message
God speaks to us through Scripture, though at times we can find it difficult to grasp the meaning. In order to understand better, we need to hear a message, reinforce it with something we have seen, then strengthen our understanding through action.
In a series of workshops, the Sion Community demonstrated the importance of using different musical styles, story telling and visual display in the forms of picture, drama and signing to help proclaim the gospel message in a new way. Parishioners put skills into action by participating in presentations during the services.
Let’s Journey with God
The Holy Spirit is forever renewing us and bringing about changes. Sometimes change seems hard to bear and we can be resistant to it.
However, God’s plans far outreach our own, and He can see the “bigger picture” that we miss. If we listen to Him, we can grasp the opportunities presented to us, along with their difficulties, in order to achieve a better understanding of Him and ourselves.
Let’s Journey with Each Other
We can not do the work of spreading God’s message alone – and neither should we have to. The Holy Spirit works through us, and we need to work with each other. By getting to know each other better, we can all work together to strengthen our Christian community and bring God’s message to others.
What is Our Journey?
We are all on a journey to knowing God better. We all travel along our journey at a different speed – but we can support each other along the way. Listening to God through scripture and prayer is fuel for our journey.
Let the Journey Renew Us
“For God so loved the world, He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3: 16 – 17
Jesus walks beside us on our journey, to strengthen, guide and renew us.
